How Are You Cambridgeshire, Partnership

Liam and Abigail Baker stood outside Buds Fitness, Fitness Studio in Sawtry

At Buds Fitness we are understand better than most the positive impact fitness can have on mental health. Our entire existence as a business is as a result of my own (Liam Baker) mental health experience, which is why being in a position to be accepted by H.A.Y Peterborough and Cambridgeshire is a moment of true pride.

What is H.A.Y Peterborough and Cambridgeshire?
H.A.Y Stands for; How Are You.
H.A.Y are a community engagement team working within Cambridgeshire & Peterborough NHS Foundation that help the individuals with in the region find places and activities that will help them get the best out of themselves.

The team work closely in the community to ensure any business that is affiliated with them is vetted and truly embraces the values that H.A.Y stands for. The team are responsible for bringing together everything in the local community that is good for wellbeing.

What part of Buds Fitness is good for wellbeing?
All of it. We understand that all too often the first hurdle to joining a gym, is the fear of the gym environment itself and feeling like you don’t belong. With Buds we designed a purpose built PRIVATE Fitness Studio.

What this allows us to do is to work with you on a one to one basis, privately and away from on looking gym goers. Now most of the time in gym’s nobody is looking at you, but you don’t understand that until you are a regular gym goer yourself. We pride ourselves on not just working with you on your form, technique and your fitness goals, but we also work hard to build up your confidence and provide you with a more positive mental approach which one day will hopefully guide you to using a Community Gym, or Commercial Gym and do so with confidence in yourself.

What else does Buds Fitness do for wellbeing?
We are proud to run totally non for profit weightlifting events that go by the name of Deadlifts Over Depression. These events are designed to normalise mental health conversations and introduce people to the positive mindset that lifting weights can develop.

On top of this we also donate 5% of our total total as a business to CPSL Mind, so for any products purchased on our e-commerce store, any one to one, and even attendance at our FitFactory classes we donate 5% of our turnover to CPSL Mind
